Nationals Catcher Wilson Ramos Kidnapped In Venezuela



Major-league baseball player Wilson Ramos, a catcher for the Washington Nationals, was kidnapped Wednesday in his home country of Venezuela, according to reports. Venezuelan Professional Baseball League vice president Domingo Alvarez says the captors have not made contact with Ramos' family.


Ramos, a 24-year-old who just finished his rookie season, was taken away in an SUV by four armed men in Santa Ines in central Carabobo state, the spokeswoman for his Venezuelan League team, the Aragua Tigers, said on her official Twitter account. Kidnappings involving baseball players in Venezuela is nothing new, but this is the first time the player has been kidnapped. Three other famous instances from the past few years have involved family members of players.
