The World Bank has launched its Education Strategy for the next ten years. The strategy focuses on “learning for all” and investing early, investing smartly, and investing for all. Consultations with governments, development partners, students, teachers, researchers, civil society, and business representatives from more than 100 countries informed the strategy.

The nation's largest teachers union voted Monday in Chicago to support President Barack Obama's 2012 re-election bid despite discord between rank-and-file teachers and the administration over key education reforms.

Since being appointed, Gove has called for a number of reforms for the British education system, including restructuring and intensifying language requirements both foreign and domestic, as well as strengthening standards in science and "maths." Now, Gove has set his sights on video games as a way of making the British education system more engaging for children.

Members of the National Education Association voted to support Obama on Monday at their annual convention in Chicago.

In a statement, NEA President Dennis Van Roekel says Obama and the union share a vision and members wanted early and strong support to help his election.

The National Education Association on Monday affirmed for the first time that evidence of student learning must be considered in the evaluations of school teachers around the country.

The study found that, since 1992, the state increasingly has devoted less of its per capita income to education, falling from $56.44 for every $1,000 earned to $47.69 in 2009. That moved the state down from eighth in the nation to 26th.
