Steve Kelley The time was right for Matt Hasselbeck,

As Matt Hasselbeck slowly lifted himself from Husky Stadium's hard artificial surface, the jeers rolled over him as punishing as North Shore waves. The Seattle Times is now reportingthat Matt Hasselbeck will NOT re-sign with the Seahawks. We're awaiting official confirmation from the Seahawks but Danny O'Neil and the Seattle Times are typically pretty reliable in their reports so I'm taking this one pretty seriously. The Seahawks have been said to be in the running for Kevin Kolb, whom the Philadelphia Eagles will most likely trade this week. Other free-agent quarterback options for Seattle include Tarvaris Jackson and Matt Leinart. That really would be best case scenario for the Titans. I still think that Hasselbeck is the best of the available quarterbacks, and it is win, win, win for the Titans if they are able to get him without giving him a bunch of money. The Hasselbeck idea was pure speculation, turned into confirmed rumor, turned into debatable fiction thanks to a source within the 49ers' organization. If they were to lose just those games, they would be 10-6 with a home playoff game. If they were to win one or two of those six tough games, they would have a bye and be only a game away from the NFC Championship Game.
