marriage

President Barack Obama's "evolving" stance on gay marriage was headed for a high-profile

test Thursday as he prepared for his first-ever fundraiser for gay donors just as New York

lawmakers maneuvered toward a historic vote legalizing same-sex marriage.

After weeks of debate and attention, The New York Senate has legalized same-sex marriage in the third-most populated state in the U.S.

There is no shortage of reaction across the social web.

In 2009 the Washington state Legislature approved an “everything but marriage” bill,
granting same-sex couples the same rights and benefits as married couples.

That law survived a challenge later in 2009 when voters approved a referendum affirming their support for the new rights.

I was actually pretty surprised when TechCrunch Managing Editor Erick Schonfeld Skyped me with “Look at your Twitter feed.

” In a quick game of Internet catch up, I scrolled through my feed.

  1. It's a sign of progress. 10 years ago, one would have wondered if this would ever become legal in NYC.
