Katy Perry Spoofs Pippa Middleton, Kate Pregnancy Talk on SNL [VIDEO]

Katy Perry has appeared on Saturday Night Live before (she was the musical guest during an episode last September, in which she also appeared in a sketch poking fun at herself and her Sesame Street controversy. Kicking off the evening in her new blond bob, Mrs. Russell Brand walked onto the festive set in a tight red dress covered in Christmas ornaments for the show's opening monologue.

After performing as the musical guest on the show once before, Perry turned over those duties to her former tour opener Robyn, opting instead to show off her acting chops. Perry seemed a bit nervous during the opening monologue, but thankfully a crew of cast members didn’t let her go it alone. "SNL" took their best stabs at the Middleton girls as well as Prince Philip (a.k.a. the Duke of Edinburgh), Queen Elizabeth II and Prince William.

And being the amateur royal experts we are, it's our duty to weigh in. In the royally-inspired skit, Kate Middleton (played by Nasim Pedrad, who spoofed Kim Kardashian in several skits) gets grilled by Queen Elizabeth (Fred Armisen) and Prince Phillip (Bill Hader) for failing to get pregnant with a royal heir eight months after the royal wedding. In a parody trailer for "The Apocalypse," a play on the recently released romantic comedy "New Year's Eve," Perry dressed up as Xtina, singing her signature elongated notes.

But the show’s most absurdly random moments came in the digital short, “Best Friends,” which found singing pals Perry and Andy Samberg befriending a “handsome drug addict” and a “brilliant lunatic,” played respectively by Matt Damon and the reliably bonkers Val Kilmer.
