Joe Mauer Proposed To Girlfriend Maddie Bisanz

Minnesota’s most eligible bachelor is off the market. Minnesota Twins catcher Joe Mauer proposed to his girlfriend, Maddie Bisanz, over the weekend. "A place that is special to both of us," Mauer said Sunday from Florida. "We couldn't be happier, and we're both really excited."

Mauer and Bisanz both attended Cretin-Derham Hall High School in St. Paul. Mauer graduated from Cretin in 2001 and was drafted by the Twins with the No. 1 overall pick in the draft that same year. No wedding date has been set. The couple have been friends for about seven years and have been dating for about 1-1/2 years.

Minnesota Twins catcher Joe Mauer proposed to his girlfriend, Maddie Bisanz, over the weekend.

The two did not date during high school, rather, they reconnected in recent years, according to Mauer’s family. Earlier this month, Mauer was asked during a chat with local reporters whether he was engaged. He denied rumors that he was engaged then, but Mauer popped the question to Bisanz not long after.

Mauer has always been private about his personal life and his dating past, although he was linked to former Miss USA Chelsea Cooley in 2006. "I was hoping for a yes and she said yes," Mauer told the St. Paul Pioneer Press. "I'm getting to marry my best friend."

"I wanted to say, 'Hey, I'm here, this is what's going on. I'm healthy,'" Mauer told reporters earlier this month. "That's the biggest thing. The fans are kind of like, 'What's going on with this guy?' I'm ready to go. I'm excited."
