Debi Dutta, in item song with Imran Khan

Model-turned actress Debi Dutta, who is more familiar on the small screen is all set to exhibit her dancing skills on the big screen. The Kolkata based actress, who made her debut as a childhood friend of Ranbir Kapoor in the movie ‘Rocket Singh’, will be sizzling in an item number along with actor Imran Khan in the forthcoming romantic comedy entertainer ‘Mere Brother Ki Dulhan’.

Debi had already worked with the banner for the movie ‘Rocket Singh: Sales Man of The Year’, and so the makers had agreed to cast the actress. Within a couple of days the actress was shooting for the song with Imran.

The song in the movie has been sung by singer Mika. Debi in the item song will be carrying two looks. One will be a ‘Dulhan’ (bridal) look and another will be a ‘Dabangg’ look. One may be wondering what the ‘Dabangg’ look might look like. The actress has kept that part as a secret and said that she would not reveal anything about it at present.

Solar eclipse history and latest images

As seen from the Earth, a solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between the Sun and the Earth, and the Moon fully or partially covers the Sun as viewed from a location on Earth. This can only happen during a new moon, when the Sun and Moon are in conjunction as seen from Earth. At least two, and up to five, solar eclipses occur each year; no more than two can be total eclipses. Total solar eclipses are nevertheless rare at any particular location because totality exists only along a narrow path on the Earth's surface traced by the Moon's umbra.

Some people, sometimes referred to as "eclipse chasers" or "umbraphiles", will travel to remote locations to observe or witness a predicted central solar eclipse (see Types below). The solar eclipse of August 11, 1999, in Europe helped to increase public awareness of the phenomenon[citation needed], which apparently led to an unusually large number of journeys made specifically to witness the annular solar eclipse of October 3, 2005, and of March 29, 2006.

The last total solar eclipse was the solar eclipse of July 11, 2010; the next will be the solar eclipse of November 13, 2012. The recent solar eclipse of June 1, 2011, was a partial eclipse (see Types below); the next partial eclipse will occur on July 1, 2011.

A total solar eclipse is a natural phenomenon. Nevertheless, in ancient times, and in some cultures today, solar eclipses have been attributed to supernatural causes or regarded as bad omens. A total solar eclipse can be frightening to people who are unaware of their astronomical explanation, as the Sun seems to disappear during the day and the sky darkens in a matter of minutes.

Father's Day Gifts: Gift Guide 2011

Bill Cosby once said, “Fatherhood is pretending the present you love most is soap-on-a-rope.” If you’re over the age of 5, or just tired of going the Old Spice route, take your inspiration from some of the staff at T. Here, they share what they’re getting for their fathers this year.

Drakes London suspenders
“When it comes to holiday gifts, my father and I have a little tradition,” says Chelsea Zalopany, features associate. “So this Father’s Day is no different. I will be making a charity donation in his name.” The charming suspenders? “My boyfriend’s father is a different story. He loves suits and everything that comes with them — cuff links, pocket squares — and these Drakes London suspenders will be a perfect addition to his summer suits.”

Hugo Boss orange socks
Rory Walsh-Miller, associate photo editor, is intent on celebrating her father with something kooky. “My dad will wear colorful, more interesting socks, and he’s not afraid to go a little crazy,” she says. “I always have fun picking them out. I like to do stripes for him.” What was her favorite Father’s Day? “My fondest memory is waking up and making my dad blueberry pancakes.”

Brooks Brothers chambray robe
Every dad deserves a break occasionally, and nothing provides more comfort that a lightweight robe. Edward Barsamian, fashion assistant, says, “On the weekends my father can be seen often wearing his robe. This Brooks Brothers version is perfect for him as it’s classic and understated, just like him.” The Barsamians are spending Father’s Day out of town. “We’ll be celebrating poolside this year at our house outside the city with drinks.”

Smythson leather notebook
For an old-school dad, a gift like an iPad or eBook reader can go unappreciated. Aurelie Pellissier, senior art director, is giving her technologically challenged pops something he can actually use. “This Smythson notebook would be great for my father, as he always writes his appointments down,” she says. And, on Father’s Day, she’ll be doing what most foreign transplants will be doing: “My parents live in France, so on Father’s Day I’ll be giving my father a call.”

J Dey's murder: Journalists hold protest

Mediapersons in Mumbai on Saturday took out a procession to condemn the brutal killing of senior journalist Jyotirmoy Dey and demanded CBI probe into the incident.

The journalists, belonging to both print and electronic media organisations and associations, gathered at Patrakar Sangh in south Mumbai and marched toward Mantralaya.

Condemning the killing of senior investigative journalist Jyotirmoy Dey in Mumbai, Confederation of Newspaper and News Agency Employees' Organisation today demanded immediate arrest of the culprits and urged the union and the state governments to ensure safety of scribes. "No civilised society can a
ccept this kind of attack on the freedom of press...We expect the Maharashtra government to immediately arrest the culprits and ensure protection to scribes so that the press can work in free environment," CNNAEO general secretary M S Yadav said in a statement here.

The confederation, which is spearheading nation-wide agitations for early notification of Majithia wage boards report for journalists and non-journalists of newspapers and news agencies, is "deeply pained and heart" by the broad day-light murder of Dey, the statement said.

Earlier on Monday, a delegation of Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) met the chief minister at his official residence and appealed him to take urgent and appropriate steps to tackle the growing incidents of attacks on mediapersons in the state.

Juhu beach Prepare yourself for the long haul

MV wisdom, a 145-metre long cargo vessel bound for Alang ship-breaking yard, sparked a major scare on Saturday afternoon after it broke free from its tug and drifted towards the Bandra-Worli Sea Link.

The unmanned ship eventually ran aground off the Juhu beach “late in the evening”, said coast guard officials.

On Sunday morning, walkers at the beach were greeted with the magnificent view of Wisdom against the monsoon sky. As the word spread, crowd swelled. “Every weekend, the beach sees plenty of visitors.

However, today (Sunday), there was an usually large crowd,” Juhu resident Kumar Pravesh said. “People clicked pictures of the ship and enjoyed light rain.”

Satish Malavade

Coast guard officials said that the Singapore-flagged ship was “stable”. Arun Singh, the regional operations and plant officer for the coast guard’s western command, said that Wisdom had run aground 2.5 km from the Juhu beach.

He said that the talks were on with its owners. “We will get tugs to drag the ship out,” he said.

The directorate General of Shipping will conduct an investigation into Saturday’s incident. The 9,000-tonne MV Wisdom posed a risk to the Sea Link after it went adrift owing to bad weather.

“If the ship was being taken to Alang (from Colombo), we wonder what she was doing near Mumbai’s coast,” a coast guard official had said on Saturday.

'The Normal Heart' Wins Tony Awards 2011

NEW YORK - Two actors from the revival of the AIDS drama "The Normal Heart" — Ellen Barkin and John Benjamin Hickey — won the first two acting Tony Awards on a night that promised to be a big one for a musical that sometimes jokes about AIDS — "The Book of Mormon."

Barkin won the award Sunday night for best actress in a featured role in a play and Hickey took home the male equivalent honor for their blistering performances in Larry Kramer's AIDS drama.

"It's the proudest moment of my career. Being involved in something this important is I think a once-in-a-career opportunity," said Barkin, who was making her Broadway debut.

The best direction of a musical award went to Casey Nicholaw and Trey Parker for "The Book of Mormon." The top directing prize for a play went to Marianne Elliott and Tom Morris for "War Horse."

The one Tony for David Lindsay-Abaire's Good People, an acclaimed play about an out-of-work single mother in Boston, went to Frances McDormand, who played the hardscrabble heroine of the comic drama.

Kramer's prescient play about fear, love and activism in the early days of the AIDS first surfaced in the mid-1980s — in time in which it was set. Back then, some called it a rant rather than a play, but the years have been kind to the work — audiences, critics and the Tony voters have embraced the drama about (as director George C. Wolfe has put it) a monster stalking a community.
The Tonys, hosted by Neil Patrick Harris and presented by The Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing, were held at the Beacon Theatre on the Upper West Side of Manhattan.

By 9 PM Sunday, The Book of Mormon had already won Tonys in five categories, including Best Score, a category buried in the pre-telecast ceremony, allowing only incidental national airtime to the songwriters Robert Lopez, Matt Stone and Trey Parker. (Memo to Tony organizers: without the work of dramatists who write new music and lyrics for the theatre, Broadway wouldn't have original musicals.) By the end of the ceremony (which ran four minutes beyond 11 PM on CBS-TV), The Book of Mormon won nine Tony Awards out of its 14 nominations — for Musical, Score, Book (Lopez, Stone and Parker), Sound (Brian Ronan), Lighting (Brian MacDevitt), Direction (Casey Nicholaw and Trey Parker), Orchestrations (Larry Hochman and Stephen Oremus), Actress in a Featured Role (Nikki M. James) and Scenic Design (Scott Pask).

John Larroquette, in his Broadway debut, won a Featured Actor (Musical) Tony for playing a corporate boss J.B. Biggley in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.
